1 | 1 | 23 August 2013 | Omera Bhaduri Hakeem Bhaduri |
The Walkers arrive in Ashwood; Isaac Walker has just bought the local gym from Jeremy Dawson after outbidding fellow resident Omera Bhaduri, who has been involved in a long-established feud with the Dawsons. Kerry Walker is keen to get to know her neighbours and introduce her youngest son, Ben Walker, to other boys his age. Isaac and Omera's daughters, Emily Walker and Anaya Bhaduri, spark up a friendship; Emily opens up about failing her A-levels, while Anaya reveals that she has not yet told her parents that she has dropped out of university. Meanwhile, Hakeem Bhaduri, Anaya's sister, shows an interest in Emily. Elsewhere, Danny Walker takes the family car to the garage – owned by the Dawsons – after it breaks down. When Danny clashes with Carl Dawson, Jeremy's grandson, over the cause of the breakdown, Jeremy offers Danny a trial shift at the garage, much to Carl's annoyance. Danny notices that Jeremy has his eye on another resident, Sue Morton. Later, the residents gather at The White Horse, the local pub, for a surprise birthday party for Sue, planned by her daughter, Glinda Hardman. Jeremy hopes that he'll be able to ask her out, but when Sue turns up, she gets upset and storms out. Carl, already angered by Danny, starts a fight with Hakeem, and the two are separated. As the Walkers toast to their new start, Omera tells Hakeem that she plans on using them to bring down the Dawsons.

2 | 2 | 26 August 2013 | Rex Hardman Taylor Johnson |
Danny begins his trial shift at the garage, but Carl continues to make things difficult for him. Carl is also jealous of Danny's strong charisma around his family, being able to make Carl's father, Sam Dawson, laugh, and offer great relationship advice to Jeremy. Eventually, however, Danny and Carl are able to settle their differences. Meanwhile, Omera tricks Isaac into revealing how much he offered to pay Jeremy for the gym; Omera seeths upon learning that Isaac's offer was actually lower than hers. Omera is later able to secure a job for Hakeem at the gym as a personal trainer. Peter Sanders meets with Kabish Bhaduri, the local GP, to discuss his latest test results, and Kabish reveals that Peter has atherosclerosis, a narrowing of the arteries resulting in heart attacks and stroke. Peter chooses to keep this from his wife, Gemma Sanders, who is busy planning Friday's village fair. Later, Peter notices Emily sitting alone and offers her some sage advice about growing up. Emily is inspired to reveal to her mother, Kerry, that she failed her A-levels, and Kerry is supportive. Elsewhere, Terry Dawson helps his best friend Owen Young plan a proposal to his girlfriend, Polly Campbell. Following multiple failed attempts, including interruptions from Gemma and losing the ring, Owen eventually proposes to Polly in the pub, and Polly accepts. The ring is later revealed to have been found by kids Rex Hardman and Taylor Johnson.
3 | 3 | 28 August 2013 | Polly Campbell |
While Polly gushes to Glinda about her recent engagement, Glinda is distracted when Rex walks in with new shoes. When Glinda queries how he found the money to afford them, Rex insists that he saved up his pocket money, when in reality he and Taylor sold Owen's ring. Meanwhile, Owen attempts to make nice with Polly's daughter, Millie Campbell, who has been out of sorts since the proposal. Following several attempts to get her onside, Millie eventually flips and tells him to stop trying to be her dad; Polly walks in, having overheard her. Pub landlady Faye Carter notices Peter loitering outside the pharmacy while opening up. Emily asks Faye about the bartender vacancy at the pub, and is offered a trial shift. Later, Faye spots Peter looking troubled while drinking at the bar, and is able to encourage him to open up to her about his diagnosis. Faye encourages him to tell Gemma, as well as lay off the booze. Following a successful trial shift, Faye offers Emily the job. Maria Townsend, Faye's girlfriend, is annoyed to learn that Faye has hired Emily without consulting her first. Elsewhere, Hakeem helps Isaac take inventory at the gym. When Emily arrives to tell Isaac about being offered a trial shift at the pub, Hakeem accidentally flirts with her in front of Isaac; Isaac politely lets Hakeem know that she is off limits. Meanwhile, Anaya grows wary of Emily's involvement with Hakeem, and warns Hakeem not to mess her around; Omera overhears.
4 | 4 | 30 August 2013 | Emily Walker |
The residents come together as Gemma leads celebrations at the annual village fair. Faye continues to urge Peter to speak openly with Gemma about his diagnosis, and the two soon begin to arouse Gemma's suspicions. Faye is also concerned when her best friend, Candice Pritchard, does not attend the fair; Faye wonders to Maria if she might still be unwell, while Maria states that she's only just come out of hospital. Polly attempts to patch things up between Millie and Owen, but Millie stands firm in not wanting a stepfather. Polly opens up to Glinda and Desiree Johnson that she may have to call off the engagement, as Millie is her priority. Sue and Omera come to blows at the shop, resulting in Sue impulsively quitting her job; Glinda struggles to comprehend Sue's actions, even more so when Sue attends a post-fair party in the pub with a new look in an attempt to impress Jeremy. After being ridiculed by Sam, however, Sue storms out. Back at home, Sue wipes off her makeup and sobs. Meanwhile, an argument between Omera and Jeremy leads to Omera sneaking into the garage to tamper with one of the cars. However, Carl unknowingly locks her inside. Elsewhere, Anaya attempts to warn Emily about Hakeem when it becomes apparent that Emily is developing feelings for him, and though Emily swears that she would rather be single, she later meets up with Hakeem after dark. Emily is caught off guard when Hakeem offers her cocaine. |

Emily stumbles home in the middle of the night, awakening Danny, who is suspicious about where she has been. Hakeem discovers that Omera has been locked in the garage, and secretly breaks her out. The following morning, Danny presses Emily for answers about where she went, worried that she might be taking drugs again, especially when he overhears Faye remarking to Kerry that Emily seemed unwell during her shift in the pub. Emily reassures Danny, but later pulls cocaine out of her pocket. Meanwhile, Candice ignores Faye when she knocks on the door to her flat, and heads out to a psychiatric hospital to meet a patient called Katie Jennings; it is revealed that Candice stayed at the hospital following her parents' deaths, and became friends with Katie. Katie gives Candice some words of encouragement when Candice admits she is struggling to get back to normal. When Candice returns home, Faye forces her way into Candice's flat to talk to her. Faye tells Candice that she is there for her, before revealing that Peter has been diagnosed with a heart condition. Sue hides away after being ridiculed the previous evening; Glinda struggles to get through to her and calls on Jeremy to help. Jeremy and Sue have a heart-to-heart about growing old and eventually admit their feelings for one another. Elsewhere, the Dawsons arrive at the garage to find that the door was let unlocked; the family blame Carl, who was left in charge of locking up the night before.
6 | 6 | 4 September 2013 | Owen Young |
It is Millie and Ben's first day at Ashwood High School, as well as Kerry's first day working there as a teacher. Millie hangs around with Rex, Taylor and Nadiya Bhaduri. Rex shows an interest in Millie, while Nadiya feels threatened by Millie's closeness with Taylor, her crush. Nadiya takes pity on Ben after Rex and Taylor make fun of his blazer, which is too big for him. She opens up to Ben about her feelings for Taylor and feeling like an outcast, which Ben empathises with. While walking home, Ben is tripped up by Rex, and is hurt when Nadiya laughs along. Ben is short with Kerry upon arriving home and locks himself in his room, and Kerry later finds Ben's blazer in the bin. Millie returns home to find that Owen has fallen over while attempting to put up bunting for her birthday; the two end up bonding as Millie cares for him, and Polly is glad to see them getting along. However, Glinda soon arrives to reveals privately to a deeply concerned Owen that her ex-husband, Jake Hardman, is soon to be released from jail. Elsewhere, Gemma pressures Peter into signing up for a ballroom dancing class at the community centre, still unaware of Peter's heart condition, while Candice and Faye continue to worry. Sue later finds Peter in the park clutching his chest, and Peter tells her about his diagnosis. Jeremy sees them and gets the wrong idea, forcing Peter to reveal it to him, too.
7 | 7 | 6 September 2013 | Gemma Sanders Peter Sanders |
When Sam continues to berate Carl about leaving the garage door unlocked earlier in the week, Carl decides to check the CCTV footage; he sees Hakeem and Omera, and angrily confronts Hakeem. Isaac, Kerry, Jeremy, Sue, Gemma, Peter, Candice and Faye all attend the ballroom dancing class at the community centre. Omera witnesses Emily and Hakeem drinking on the street and follows them; the teens disrupt the dancing class, embarrassing Isaac and Kerry, and Omera forces Hakeem to leave. Disaster soon strikes when Peter suffers a heart attack and is rushed to hospital. Gemma learns of Peter's atherosclerosis and is sickened to learn that Candice, Faye, Jeremy and Sue all knew about Peter's condition. She orders them to leave, and later breaks down next to an unconscious Peter. Back in Ashwood, Omera pulls Hakeem into the shop and chastises him for embarrassing the family; Hakeem angrily tells her that Carl is on to them and insults her; Omera slaps Hakeem, and it is revealed that it was Omera's idea for Hakeem to get closer to Emily. Omera and Hakeem hear the door slam shut and deduce that someone overheard them. Nadiya attempts to apologise to Ben for the day's earlier events, but is interrupted when Isaac and Kerry return home with a very drunk Emily. Elsewhere, Glinda and Owen discuss their past with Glinda's ex-husband, Jake, and how Owen was the reason that Jake went to jail.
8 | 8 | 9 September 2013 | Carl Dawson |
At the hospital, Peter is recuperating from his heart attack. A guilt-ridden Candice pays him a visit, but is stopped by Gemma, who tells her that she of all people should know what it feels like to lose someone you love, and that she should have told her about Peter. Omera brings flowers to the hospital for Gemma and Peter to apologise for Hakeem's behaviour, but is also turned away by Gemma. Back in Ashwood, Isaac and Kerry chastise Emily about her behaviour the night before, and forbid her from seeing Hakeem again. Further to this, Isaac also fires Hakeem. Emily turns up for her shift at the pub, but Faye turns her away, still furious with her, and demands that she takes unpaid leave. Anaya also gives Emily the cold shoulder. Later, Candice expresses her guilt to Faye, and Faye tells her the most important thing is that Peter is fine. Maria plans a candlelit dinner for her and Faye, but is unhappy when Faye continues to worry about Candice and Peter. Maria doubts that Faye still loves her, and Faye storms out. A desperate Hakeem threatens Carl into discarding of the CCTV footage, but Omera fears he has made things worse. Danny senses that Carl is feeling stressed, so arrives at the garage with beers. Carl opens up about how his mother walked out on the family six years ago, and Sam, his father, never told him why. Carl acts on impulse and kisses Danny; Danny pulls away awkwardly and Carl runs off. The camera pans out to Hakeem watching from the distance.
9 | 9 | 11 September 2013 | Hakeem Bhaduri |
Gemma and Peter return home from the hospital, and though Peter insists that he's fine, Gemma tells him not to move a muscle and rest. Faye and Maria say very little to one another in the morning, and Faye decides to visit Peter, but Gemma tells her bluntly that they're not accepting visitors. Faye later tells Sue this, who charges over to Gemma's house, despite Jeremy's objections, to have a word. Sue tells Gemma that she can't stop everyone from caring about Peter. Gemma tries to get them to leave, but Peter asks Gemma to stop; it's his fault, not theirs. Sue and Jeremy then sit with Peter while Gemma goes out to apologise to Candice and Faye. At school, Nadiya meets up with Ben without anyone else knowing to apologise for laughing at him the other day, and Ben accepts. However, Nadiya once again refuses to stick up for Ben when Rex and Taylor call him names. Elsewhere, Danny notices that Carl hasn't turned up to work, and goes around to check on him during his lunch break. Carl initially refuses to talk to Danny, but Danny is eventually able to get Carl to open up about his sexuality. Carl reveals that nobody else knows. Unbeknownst to them, Terry overhears them from the other room. Later, Carl receives a text on his phone from an unknown sender, telling him that they know that he's gay. Across the village, Hakeem puts his phone down and tells Omera that it's done, which pleases Omera, but Hakeem feels uneasy.
10 | 10 | 13 September 2013 | Sam Dawson |
Faye continues to give Maria the silent treatment as she receives a mysterious letter in the post. Maria is soon able to put a smile on Faye's face, but stumbles across the letter, which is revealed to be divorce papers from Faye's husband. Maria queries why Faye didn't tell her, resulting in another argument between the two, during which Faye blurts out how she hates that Maria doesn't want kids. Maria is confused as Faye originally told her it wasn't a problem. Sam finds himself on the other end of Carl's temper at the garage, and Danny gets caught in the crossfire when Sam accuses him of knowing something. Terry approaches Carl privately and reveals that he knows the truth about Carl's sexuality, and Carl tells him that he doesn't want Sam to know; a jealous Sam sees them talking. Later, Sam drinks at the pub with Terry and his girlfriend, Reinette, and flirts with Reinette after Terry leaves. While walking her home, Sam attempts to kiss her, but she rejects him. Meanwhile, Omera pushes Hakeem into continuing to mess with Carl, enjoying the chaos that it's causing, but Hakeem is feeling guilty; Carl breaks down in his bedroom as he continues to receive anonymous messages. At school, Ben is furious with Nadiya for not sticking up for him and calls her out. Under pressure, Nadiya makes fun of Ben to impress Taylor. Ben betrays Nadiya by publicly revealing that she fancies Taylor, and later feels humiliated when Taylor confirms that he only likes her as a friend.
11 | 11 | 16 September 2013 | Faye Carter |
Omera is horrified to discover that Desiree and Taylor's dog, Woody, has defecated in her front garden, after accidentally stepping in it on her way to work. Following an argument with Taylor, Desiree jumps to her son's defence and calls Omera stuck-up. Sue asks Omera if she could have her job back at the shop. Reinette encourages Omera to agree as they are short staffed, but when Omera sees Sue with Jeremy, she refuses. Jeremy is furious with Omera, while Desiree is confused about why Omera has such a problem with the Dawsons. Faye's desire to have her own child continues to drive a wedge between her and Maria, and Maria has started drinking to cope with her feelings of inadequacy, speaking momentarily with Carl about her sexuality and coming out to her parents. When Faye and Maria struggle to repress their anguish around the locals, Maria heads out to go clubbing, leaving Faye on her own; a short while later, Faye's ex-husband, Wes Carter, shows up unexpectedly. Reinette is excited to celebrate her seven year relationship anniversary with Terry, though things go awry when Terry is forced to stay late at work. Though Reinette waits up for him, Terry ends up getting distracted when he sees Carl drinking alone at the garage and goes to support him; Reinette is left sitting alone. Hakeem tries to refuse to continue messaging Carl, but Omera threatens that she will tell Isaac about giving Emily cocaine if so.
12 | 12 | 18 September 2013 | Faye Carter Wes Carter |
Faye is angered to see that Wes is still hanging around the village. Gemma, unaware that Wes is Faye's husband, gets to know him in the café, until Candice arrives and reveals who he is. It soon transpires that Wes is hoping for Faye to change her mind about the divorce, but Faye demands that he leaves. Later, Wes informs Faye that he wants to build a family with her, but Faye explains that he cheated on her, and she loves Maria now; Wes then questions where Maria is. Meanwhile, Maria has been out all night and all day, and is at a gay bar. She is hit on by another woman, Claudia. Though turning her down at first, Maria later accepts her company and they discuss their problematic love lives. Faye and Maria soon find themselves kissing Wes and Claudia, respectively. Reality hits Omera when she begins to see the pain she is causing Hakeem, and turns to Desiree for support on how to be a better person; Desiree is able to convince Omera to give Sue her job back as a start. Elsewhere, Terry attempts to apologise to Reinette for missing their anniversary dinner, and though Reinette forgives him, it is clear that she is still troubled. Carl tells Danny that somebody is threatening to out him. Carl decides to bite the bullet and come out to Sam, Reinette, Jeremy and Sue with encouragement from Terry, while Danny borrows Carl's phone in an attempt to find out who is trying to out him; he ends up calling the number while walking past Hakeem, and Hakeem's phone rings.
13 | 13 | 20 September 2013 | Carl Dawson Sam Dawson |
Maria pulls away from her kiss with Claudia and decides to leave, believing that she has made a mistake. Back in Ashwood, Faye feels guilty for cheating on Maria. After much deliberation, Faye decides to stay with Maria, and watches solemnly as Wes drives away. Maria returns shortly afterwards, and she and Faye embrace. Meanwhile, Sam struggles to come to terms with Carl's sexuality, and while Carl is reassured by a surprisingly accepting Jeremy, Reinette takes it upon herself to encourage Sam to accept Carl for who he is. Sam admits that he isn't bothered by Carl's sexuality, but more by the fact that he and Carl have so little in common. Sam touches on the reason behind Carl's mum leaving, and it is revealed that Sam had an affair with Reinette when she and Terry first became an item, but it ended when Reinette became pregnant with Leila. Carl's mum left upon finding out that Sam had been cheating on her, but he never told Carl this. Reinette and Sam almost kiss, but Reinette resists and walks out. Elsewhere, Omera opens up to Desiree about how Jeremy cheated on his now deceased wife (Sam's mum) with Omera's mum, but called off the affair when his wife became ill, devastating Omera's mother and thus beginning the rivalry between the families. Danny confronts Hakeem about threatening Carl, but when it becomes clear that Hakeem was forced into it, and not wanting to cause anymore trouble, Danny agrees not to tell Carl.
14 | 14 | 23 September 2013 | Emily Walker |
Owen cares for Polly while she is unwell. After Owen jokingly suggests that she might be pregnant, Polly decides to head over to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test, and is seen by Glinda. Glinda supports Polly in taking the test, and Polly later reveals to Owen that she is pregnant. Though they plan on telling Millie at a later date, Millie walks in on them discussing it and storms out. Rex attempts to cheer Millie up, unaware that he is being watched by a mysterious man. While at the pub later that evening, Owen and Glinda privately discuss their concerns of Jake's impending release from jail, and what this will mean for both of their families. Gemma overhears Reinette and Sue talking about Carl coming out as gay, and later gossips about it to Kabish while he is checking up on Peter. Kabish discusses the news around his family, and Anaya notices tension between Hakeem and Omera. When Kabish innocently talks to Terry and Owen about having heard about Carl, Carl presumes that everybody has been gossiping and decides to reveal that he's gay in front of the entire pub. Though Faye and Maria cheer him on, Sam isn't pleased about the public admission. Emily is invited back to work by Faye following a period of absence, but the reality of her addiction hits her when Hakeem refuses to deal her more cocaine. As her desperation grows, Danny soon works out that Emily has relapsed again.
15 | 15 | 25 September 2013 | Danny Walker |
Danny attempts to pressure Emily into opening up about her relapse; it is revealed that Emily started taking cocaine two years ago when she began her A-levels, but quit some time before moving to Ashwood. When it becomes clear to Danny that Emily is suffering from withdrawal symptoms, Danny offers to get cocaine for her, but is horrified to learn that Hakeem was her dealer. Danny later meets with Hakeem and punches him, before threatening to tell Carl that he was the one threatening to out him unless he deals him cocaine for Emily; Hakeem reluctantly agrees. Danny gives Emily some cocaine, but later breaks down while alone. Meanwhile, Reinette begins to feel as though Terry is prioritising work over her and Leila, and Terry concurs that she still hasn't forgiven him for letting her down of their anniversary. Reinette brushes Terry off and decides to go out for a drink with Polly and Glinda, and after having one too many, finds herself wandering over to the garage, where Sam is working alone. Reinette and Sam speak briefly about their previous affair before sharing a kiss, but Reinette instantly regrets it and runs off. Owen catches up with Glinda as she walks home from the pub to ask her if she has any news on Jake's release; a suspicious Millie watches from afar. Rex and Taylor leave school after attending a detention, and Rex is shocked to find his father waiting for him at the gates.

While looking for deodorant in Danny's room, Ben finds a bag of cocaine. Wanting to impress his classmates, Ben decides to take it to school to show Rex and Taylor, and his plan appears to be working when they tell him that he's surprised them. However, Ben is called into the headmistresses' office, along with Kerry, where he eventually admits to having cocaine on him, horrifying his mother. The police are called and Ben insists that he'd found the drugs on the street, but he is suspended from school. Back at home, Emily asks Danny for more cocaine, but Danny panics when he cannot find the bag in his room. Soon enough, Ben arrives home with a furious Kerry, and Emily and Danny are horrified to learn what has happened. Isaac doesn't believe that Ben found the cocaine on the street, and Ben is pressured into revealing that he'd found it in Danny's room. Danny covers for Emily and lies that he has been taking cocaine. Meanwhile, a hungover Reinette awakens to breakfast in bed from Terry, and immediately feels guilty for kissing Sam. Sam tries to make Reinette see that they have something special, but Reinette announces that she has chosen Terry, leaving Sam heartbroken. Glinda opens up to Sue about Jake's release, and that she is torn about whether or not to tell Rex; unbeknownst to her, Rex is already in contact with his father. The Walkers are scrutinised by their neighbours as parents learn of what Ben did. Kerry faces a difficult day at work, and Isaac is also forced to postpone the gym opening. Emily is guilt-ridden, but continues to be reliant on Danny, while Danny struggles as his parents shut him out and is supported by Carl. Glinda worries that Rex may have been tempted by the cocaine, but Rex is short with her when she questions him about it. Taylor wonders to Rex about the mysterious man who was waiting for him last week, and Rex reveals that he has been in contact with his dad again, surprising Taylor. Millie continues to be hostile towards Owen, and Polly presumes it is a bad reaction to the news of her pregnancy. Millie stumbles upon Glinda and Owen sharing a hug and takes pictures of them, before posting the polaroids through Glinda's letterbox. Nadiya admits to Ben that she went to the headmistress about the cocaine as revenge for him revealing to Taylor that she liked him. Ben criticises her, so she callously tells him that she knows where he got the drugs from. After seeing Taylor and Millie together, Nadiya heads home and argues with her family, revealing to Anaya and Kabish that Hakeem has been dealing cocaine to Emily and Omera knows about it, exposing herself as the person who overheard Hakeem and Omera's conversation in the shop a few weeks ago. At school, Kerry struggles, even more so when Ben gets into a fight with Taylor. Kerry supports Ben as he is plagued by self-blame. Carl notices that Danny hasn't turned up to work. Danny receives a visit from Anaya, who learns that Emily is missing and tells Danny that she will support him and his family to make up for what Hakeem has done. Later on, Isaac reveals to the pub that Emily has been suffering with drug addiction; she is missing and the family need everyone's help. Faye and Maria, feeling guilty about not helping Emily sooner, agree to help, as does Candice, Carl, Terry, Kabish and Gemma. Meanwhile, Taylor's memories of his father come flooding back as he continues to look at the picture he found, as well as the anger he felt when he left. After fighting with Ben at school, Desiree argues with Taylor, where Taylor impulsively reveals that he wishes to see his father again. Elsewhere, Millie continues to assume that Glinda and Owen are having an affair, and reveals this to Rex. Rex, unaware of Owen's history with his father, believes Millie and the two decide to post a threatening message to Owen through the letterbox. Owen later finds the message, which reads "I'm watching you"; Owen assumes the message is from Jake.

Isaac and Kerry speak to the police about Emily's disappearance, but the police explain that, except for filing a missing persons report, there's not much else they can do as Emily is an adult. Omera asks Anaya not to get involved in looking for Emily as she has her studies to worry about; Anaya shocks Omera by stating that she has dropped out of university, and joins Danny and Carl in heading out to find Emily. Hakeem tells Omera that this is all her fault. Meanwhile, Gemma puts up flyers around the village, and Maria asks punters if they have seen Emily. Faye and Candice support one another as both of them feel as though they failed Emily. Danny, Anaya and Carl return as it begins to get dark; their search was unsuccessful, and Kerry fears the worst. Meanwhile, Desiree forbids Taylor from digging up the past by looking for his father, explaining that he gave up on the family and doesn't deserve Taylor's love. However, Desiree feels guilty when she realises how much this means to Taylor. Taylor is supported by Millie, and realises that he might have feelings for her. Elsewhere, Sue attempts to help Glinda and Owen as they panic about what Jake is planning, and Sue wonders if Jake might have contacted Rex. Glinda asks Rex if he would tell her something if he felt she needed to know; Rex says yes. Glinda believes him and concurs that Rex isn't hiding anything.

Danny and Anaya, Carl and Terry, and Candice and Faye split up and search the clubs. Danny and Anaya open up about doing all they can to support their siblings; Anaya tells Danny that Hakeem wasn't always so reckless, explaining that their parents put a lot of pressure on him. Jake encourages Rex to make the first move, which he does later that evening. Millie kisses Rex, and they are seen by Taylor. Nadiya meets up with Ben, and apologises, but Ben tells her she only cares about herself. Elsewhere, Sam takes advantage of Terry being out looking for Emily by going to see Reinette. Though Reinette is initially unhappy to see him, the two eventually kiss again.

Faye sits with Emily while security guards usher everyone out of the club, including Candice, who is on the verge of a panic attack. Faye calls Danny, who informs Carl and then calls Isaac and Kerry, who head straight for the hospital, where Emily is rushed in. Faye reunites with Candice and takes her home. The family are informed that Emily had a large amount of cocaine in her system, resulting in the seizure. However, nurses also find something else, and the family are told that Emily is pregnant. Anaya comforts Danny as he breaks down; Isaac tells Anaya to thank Hakeem for them. Later, Ben and Danny sit with Emily, holding her hands, while Isaac and Kerry watch on lovingly. Meanwhile, Rex meets up with Jake again, where Jake congratulates him for asking Millie out. Jake later shocks Rex when he suggests that Rex reunites him with Glinda. When Rex returns home, Glinda, feeling saddened by what has been going on with the Walkers, invites him to watch television with her; he accepts. Meanwhile, Taylor looks up his father's address and learns that he is called Victor Johnson and performs sermons at a community centre in Tring. Taylor begins to feel conflicted about whether or not he wants to go through with seeing him. Elsewhere, Reinette ends up sleeping with Sam, but they are forced to end their night early when they learn that Terry is almost home. Sam sneaks out and Reinette feels a rush of guilt as she welcomes Terry home.
"Between the Bars" by Elliott Smith plays at the end of the episode over a montage of clips: Reinette greeting Terry as he returns home, shortly after cheating on him with Sam; Sam offering Carl a beer after he returns home, and Carl accepting; Rex looking over at Glinda as they watch television together; Taylor looking at a picture of his father while in bed; Faye and Maria embracing after closing the pub; Anaya returning home and hugging Hakeem as Omera looks on; and Ben and Danny sitting with Emily while she sleeps.

Taylor continues to deliberate over whether or not he wants to see his father. Polly encourages him to go, or else he will spend the rest of his life wondering what could have been. Taylor tells Desiree that he wants to do this, so Desiree drops him at the train station and nervously waves him off. In Tring, Taylor enters the community centre and finally comes face-to-face with his father. Jake continues to convince Rex to let him see Glinda, and manipulates him into believing that the three of them can be a family again. Jake watches Owen from afar, confirming his real intentions. Rex sets up a date for Jake and Glinda, which Glinda initially believes is a meal for her and Rex. However, Glinda is horrified to see Rex walk in with Jake. Meanwhile, Polly is determined to get to the bottom of what is going on with Millie as her attitude towards Owen worsens. Millie ends up confronting Owen at the restaurant, wanting him to admit that he is having an affair with Glinda, but Polly walks in at the wrong time and hears Millie's accusation. Elsewhere, Emily wakes up at the hospital, and Isaac and Kerry reveal to her that she is pregnant. They urge Emily to speak openly about who the father could be, initially suspecting Hakeem, but Emily states that she doesn't know, and later painfully admits that she doesn't think she wants a baby. Back in Ashwood, Anaya is gleeful when she spots Danny buying flowers at the shop, but is disappointed to learn that the flowers were for Candice and Faye.

Meanwhile, Polly demands answers from Owen after hearing Millie's accusation; Owen makes it clear to Polly that he is not having an affair with Glinda, but Millie shows Polly the pictures she had taken. Owen is furious to learn that Millie took those pictures and put the note through the letterbox, but soon relieved as he now believes Jake isn't here. Owen explains that Jake is Glinda's abusive ex-husband. Jake ended up in jail for possession, and it was Owen who reported him to the police to free Glinda, and he is now, as Owen believes, soon to be released. Millie apologises, but reveals that Jake has already been released, and has been in contact with Rex. Owen and Polly rush over to Glinda's house, where Owen comes face-to-face with Jake. Jake lies that he is only here to make things up to Glinda, before leaving. Rex and Millie meet up; Millie urges Rex to realise that Jake is dangerous. Polly spots him from across the road, but negates to mention it to Owen, who is shaken with fear after seeing his nemesis back in the village. Millie is feeling guilty over accusing Owen of cheating on her mum, and while Glinda is feeling stressed over seeing Jake again, Sue speaks with Rex candidly about how Jake used to treat Glinda. Rex later meets with Jake and tells him that he can't see him anymore, but is clearly conflicted over this decision. Desiree cares for Taylor in the wake of his discovery, but Taylor turns on Desiree when he learns that Desiree knew about his father's other family. Jake continues to pressure Rex into giving him a chance, and Jeremy notices the two of them together and informs Sue. Sue tells Glinda, who states that Rex knows better, though harshly punishes Rex by taking his phone, computer and gaming console away from him after learning that he didn't attend one of his lessons at school. Meanwhile, Omera calls the school and lies that Nadiya has an appointment in the morning; Nadiya goes to Kabish and attempts to make him see that he still loves Omera, but is distracted when she sees Taylor. Anaya almost goes to hold Danny's hand, but stops herself, and later she and Emily discuss Emily's pregnancy; Emily still doesn't know what she wants to do.
28 | 28 | 25 October 2013 | Hakeem Bhaduri |
Jake picks Rex up from outside of the village and takes him to an abandoned boxing den, where he has been staying since his release from prison, and introduces Rex to his "friends" – it transpires that Jake is part of a gang. Jake explains to Rex his version of events regarding his past and insists that he never wished Glinda any harm. Rex questions Jake about the reasoning behind going to prison, and Jake reveals to Rex that Owen planted the drugs in Jake's flat and called the police, before telling him that he plans to get revenge on Owen. Back in Ashwood, Glinda is going spare over Rex not coming home from school, and Sue is furious with Glinda for handling things with Rex so haphazardly. Rex eventually returns and miserably tells Glinda that he was out with friends; Glinda relaxes her punishment by giving Rex his phone back, which he then uses to text Jake. Glinda sees Millie and asks about Rex's whereabouts; Millie states that she hasn't seen him for hours. Rex arrives home and is given the third degree by Glinda; Rex ends up pushing Glinda, and runs up to his bedroom. Omera brings Nadiya home, and is thrilled when Kabish suggests moving back home and taking things day-by-day. Hakeem later sarcastically congratulates Omera on her performance. Taylor visits Nadiya and brings her chocolates, leaving Nadiya feeling hopeful of a relationship. However, Taylor is clearly still jealous of Rex and Millie after seeing the two of them in the park together, and Nadiya once again feels crushed when she sees Taylor and Millie talking in the street.
