Plot[edit | edit source]

While Polly Campbell gushes to Glinda Hardman about her recent engagement, Glinda is distracted when Rex Hardman walks in with new shoes. When Glinda queries how he found the money to afford them, Rex insists that he saved up his pocket money, when in reality he and Taylor Johnson sold Owen Young's ring. Meanwhile, Owen attempts to make nice with Polly's daughter, Millie Campbell, who has been out of sorts since the proposal. Following several attempts to get her onside, Millie eventually flips and tells him to stop trying to be her dad; Polly walks in, having overheard her. Pub landlady Faye Carter notices Peter Sanders loitering outside the pharmacy while opening up. Emily Walker asks Faye about the bartender vacancy at the pub, and is offered a trial shift. Later, Faye spots Peter looking troubled while drinking at the bar, and is able to encourage him to open up to her about his diagnosis. Faye encourages him to tell Gemma Sanders, as well as lay off the booze. Following a successful trial shift, Faye offers Emily the job. Maria Townsend, Faye's girlfriend, is annoyed to learn that Faye has hired Emily without consulting her first. Elsewhere, Hakeem Bhaduri helps Isaac Walker take inventory at the gym. When Emily arrives to tell Isaac about being offered a trial shift at the pub, Hakeem accidentally flirts with her in front of Isaac; Isaac politely lets Hakeem know that she is off limits. Meanwhile, Anaya Bhaduri grows wary of Emily's involvement with Hakeem, and warns Hakeem not to mess her around; Omera Bhaduri overhears.
